A much anticipated package got delivered today...



Beyond the Square – Crochet Motifs by Edie Eckman!!

I’ve never been a huge fan of granny squares before, but since it’s something every ‘hooker’ out there seems to love, I figured I should give it a try.

And I have to say: if you’re looking for a book filled with useful information on crochet, happy colours and 144 inspiring patterns of granny squares, circles, hexagons and more, this is the book for you!!



Not only are there many, MANY great patterns in this book, Edie Eckman also filled the pages with detailed descriptions of numerous stitches, useful information on reading crochet charts, invisible ways to join rounds, crocheting motifs together and the basic principles of making motifs (in case you want to design some yourself)!!!



It didn't take long before these motifs were growing on me. In fact: I might actually LIKE making them :)



I will need to practice though... A LOT ;)



How I would love to make a Granny Square-blanket one day! Hell, I might even make a fancy edging while I’m at it ;)

Memory Lane

I took a trip down Memory Lane this weekend when I was in my parent’s attic...















... and found my old treasure chest!!! This little wooden chest was much loved and – indeed – treasured in my early days.















It contained Pretty Things, like a bracelet I wore as a baby…



… and little tins containing even more treasure!





Much got lost over the years, but I figured I should treasure what’s left... and take it home with me!

I ♥ Notebooks

Apart from baskets, I also ♥ notebooks :) Whenever I’m in a store that sells them, I just have to take a look. Hold them. Let my fingers run through the pages. I’ve had to create a rule for myself saying I cannot buy a new notebook before the present one is completed. (Otherwise I would end up with hundreds of them!)



To me, finding the right notebook is very, very important. Sure, I could just grab the first one I see and start writing, but I like to make a process out of it. And my process of writing starts with finding the right notebook.

I must say: I LOVE Peter Pauper Press. Check out their other gorgeous journals here! Aren’t they amazing??? *drool* They didn’t have the Owls Journal in my local bookstore, but I almost bought the Fresh Kicks AND Birdhouse Journal right then and there!!! Unfortunately that would’ve been against my rule of buying one notebook at a time, so I had to choose :(

The good news is: PPP also makes journals! Like my pretty, pink cats-in-dresses journal of 2010!















Which means I can buy another journal for 2011 soon...



... without breaking any rules!!! :)

I love buying new things. And sometimes, I love buying old things as well!

This morning, while J was busy sleeping in, I had myself a little breakfast-picknick in the Great Outdoors.

Beneath a beautiful blue sky...















... sitting in the high grass...















... enjoying the small things of life :)

Beautiful shapes and beautiful colours. How about these gorgeous yellow flowers?? They truly made my heart skip!!















If summer was a colour, this would be it! And you know what the best thing is?...















... I just got these fabrics in exactly the same shade!!!

I can't wait to make my own little pieces of summer!
