Day 6: York

After walking quite a few miles these past few days, we decided to indulge in some shopping in York!

We had never been to York before and first impressions were very good! I loved the city wall and York Minster was very impressive.

When we reached the narrow streets full of shops however, it started to rain...

... and it didn't stop. So after a bit of (succesful) shopping and a lot of (unsuccesful) running around trying to stay warm and dry, we needed some comfort food. And what better place to find it than...

... Bettys!! :)

A Perfect Afternoon Tea you say? YES PLEASE!!! :)

Despite the rain we had a good time in York. Although I wouldn't mind returning someday when it's nice and sunny, so I can actually see more of the city ;)

Day 5: Ilkley Moor

This was our second day without rain, so we went for a long walk on Ilkley Moor.

It was quite a climb to the top, but when we got there the views were amazing!!

And a moor wouldn't be a moor without...

... more mud!!! :)

We were trying our best to stay out of the ankle-deep mud when three people passed by who were doing something that can only be described as 'kamikaze-jogging'. They ran down the hill, at FULL SPEED, jumping and slipping and waving their arms while trying to keep their balance, their legs completely covered in mud, while two dogs jumped happily around them. It looked so freeing, I almost joined them!! ;) We watched them run through the Moor, and quickly disappear out of sight.

J said they looked as though they were heading for Isengard... ;)

We crossed the Moor via a slightly easier route than the kamikaze-joggers, following a pathway made out of big, mud-free stones. I had a lot of fun hopping around, singing 'We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz!!!' while J was glad there was no one else in sight ;)

We walked across the Moor to the Cow and Calf rocks, where we had lunch.

The views were amazing and the rocks were very impressive.

And there you have it!! Another day in Yorkshire. Tomorrow: York!!

Day 4: Addingham

The good news: it didn't rain today!! The bad new: most of the foothpaths were a slippery, muddy NIGHTMARE!! But we made it :) Here are some pictures of our walk from Ilkley to Addingham. (Not a lot of text today because the 'new and improved' Blogger is driving me INSANE by placing my texts all over the place........)

Day 3: Walking in the Rain

On our third day in Yorkshire we went for a walk.

We went all the way up the hills, through fields of sheep...

... and woods filled with flowers.

And all the way on top of the hill, I think I found my dream home! ;)

The views were amazing!!

And so were the clouds :)

The rain was a little less amazing unfortunately... but my warm, waterproof super shoes saved the day!!! :)

They made walking through the rain a little less uncomfortable ;)

Tomorrow: a loooong walk to Addingham!

Day 2: Record Store Day

Yesterday was Record Store Day, and of course J had to be there to get his hands on a limited edition LP that would be only available in selected stores for a very short period of time.

So on our first full day in Yorkshire we walked downhill...

... took a train...

... got off in Leeds...

... and got in line for the record store. The line started at the entrance of the shopping centre...

... and went on and on and on...

... all the way into the record shop!!

And after A LOT of waiting J got his record...

... and I got a triple chocolate piece of HEAVEN.

Tomorrow: beautiful skies and lots of rain!
